Boxing Day in United Kingdom

December 26th is Boxing Day. It is bank holiday in UK but if it will be during a weekend, then free day is provided direct after weekend. Boxing Day is time to give gifts to family, buddies and other ones. Tradition of Boxing Day started in Middle Ages. Then priests were supposed to empty ale alms box and distribute the contents to indigents. Rich ones, after Christmas feasts take the remains in boxes and gave out to their servants. Mentioned tradition didn’t live on to these days but the term of Boxing Day is still use. Christmas decoratives in home should be hidden until January 6th (the day of Epiphany). In Britishers’ convictions, noncompliance of that date can bring tough luck.
